Infrared or Ultrasonic distance sensor

Hello!

Can you suggest which RTB distance sensor is better infrared or ultrasonic for 200kg pellets tower? And what is a difference?

P.S. Apologies if this is already answered in the forum, as my Danish is not that good was not able to find such question.

Total 290m2 old wood house with poor insulation (currently heats approx. 140 m2).
RTB 30 kW v13.xxxx with expansion board, 200L DHW, 220kg pellet container. Boiler power is reduced now to 16kW for experiments.
Annual boiler consumption approx. 6 - 8 tons (it's an estimation as it is the first year and not used all time). When outside was -25C consumption was 44kg/day.
